A new trial date is on the docket for a former Virginia horse rescuer charged with animal cruelty.
Anne Goland Williams was scheduled to stand trial Friday. She faces 27 counts of animal cruelty stemming from an investigation last year. Authorities found dozens of dead and emaciated horses on Peaceable Farm located in Somerset.
A plea deal may be in the works, according to Orange County Commonwealth Attorney Diana O’Connell.
In April, Williams was indicted on 13 charges of embezzlement related to the horse rescue. She remains out on bond in both cases.
Williams new trial date is September 28 in the animal cruelty case.
